About The Radio

This is a 5 tube superheterodyne, "All American 5" (AA5) Bakelite  table radio that tunes the AM broadcast band. It was an unexpected gift from my son and his wife, thanks guys!
It is designed and built without a power transformer but due to advances in tube technology, no resistance line cord or ballast tubes are required.

About The Company

Picture
In 1929, the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) purchased the Victor Talking Machine Company, then the world's largest manufacturer of phonographs including the famous "Victrola" and phonograph records.
The company then became RCA Victor. In absorbing Victor, RCA acquired the rights to the famous trademark dog "Nipper" (His Master's Voice).
